Alexander Zverev is set for his sixth Laver Cup campaign as Team Europe gears up for the 2025 edition under new captain Yannick Noah. The German star, who holds a tournament-record 21 points since the inaugural event in 2017, believes this new-look squad has the firepower to reclaim dominance.
Zverev will line up alongside reigning world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, Casper Ruud, and rookies Holger Rune, Jakub Mensik, and Flavio Cobolli. “I believe that this team can beat anyone,” Zverev said. “Every player here knows how to win big matches. Sitting on the bench watching them gives me full confidence.”
Noah, who succeeds Bjorn Borg after five European titles in seven attempts, has brought a light-hearted approach to leadership. “I’m not fired yet,” he joked, while Alcaraz praised his “good vibes and great energy” that have lifted the locker room atmosphere.
Ruud, opening Day 1 against Reilly Opelka, stressed the added responsibility of playing for teammates: “It’s a little extra pressure, but winning as a team is a much better feeling.” Rune echoed the sentiment, warning against complacency: “On paper we’re favorites, but Team World has dangerous players. We need to stay focused.”
With youth, experience, and Noah’s trademark charisma, Team Europe is once again tipped to set the tone in the highly anticipated showdown.
