Amanda Anisimova Dominates Coco Gauff in 58 Minutes to Reach Beijing Final

Beijing, China – Amanda Anisimova produced a sensational performance at the China Open, dispatching Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-2 in just 58 minutes to reach the WTA 1000 semifinals on Saturday.

The world No. 4 was in commanding form, racing to a 5-0 lead in the opening set and dropping only two points across a dominant stretch. She carried that momentum into the second set, again establishing a 5-0 advantage before closing out the match at 15 in the 8th game.

“I was just excited to play in my first semifinal here, and I was able to put on a really good performance,” Anisimova said. “I knew that I was going to have to play really well against Coco to get the win, and yeah, I’m really excited to be in the final.”

A Historic Year for Anisimova

With the victory, Anisimova becomes the only player in 2025 to have defeated the current top three in the world—Aryna Sabalenka (No. 1), Iga Swiatek (No. 2), and Coco Gauff (No. 3)—on tennis’ biggest stages. She beat Sabalenka in the Wimbledon semifinals, Swiatek in the US Open quarterfinals, and now Gauff in Beijing.
