Beijing, China – Amanda Anisimova captured the China Open title on Sunday, defeating Linda Noskova 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 in a thrilling final at the hard-court indoor tournament.
The third-seeded American, who had ousted defending champion Coco Gauff in the semifinals, sealed the championship with a backhand winner down the line, celebrating her victory by falling on her back in joy.
“It was a tough match, but I managed to stay focused and finish strong,” Anisimova said.
Impressive Season for Anisimova
Anisimova, who also finished as runner-up at both the U.S. Open and Wimbledon this year, has risen to No. 4 in the world rankings. This victory marks her second WTA 1000 title of the season and her second WTA final appearance this year.
Rising Star Linda Noskova
The 20-year-old Czech player put up a strong fight in the final and had previously saved three match points in the semifinals, becoming the youngest Czech to reach a WTA 1000 final since the format’s inception in 2009.
“It’s been an incredible tournament, and I’ll keep working to improve and challenge at this level,” Noskova said.
