All’s Well That Ends Well – Oman’s Spirited Asia Cup Debut Against India

INDORE – Oman made a memorable first appearance at the Asia Cup, pushing India to the brink before falling short by 21 runs in a thrilling T20 clash. The match was competitive on the field, but off it, camaraderie and mutual respect shone through.

Oman’s captain Jatinder Singh shared glimpses of the post-match moments, highlighting interactions with Indian stars. Players swapped jerseys, shared tips, and engaged in friendly conversations with the likes of Axar Patel and Shubman Gill.

“Surya [Suryakumar Yadav] spoke about the game and praised us, which means a lot. Our boys had questions on how to play in different phases of the T20 game. It was really nice to have a chat with him,” Jatinder told PTI.

After a tough start to the tournament—bowled out for 67 against Pakistan and falling short by 42 runs against UAE—Oman found their rhythm against India. Half-centuries from Aamir Kaleem (64) and Hammad Mirza (51) helped them reach 167 for 4 in their 20 overs, taking eight Indian wickets along the way. Though India ultimately set a target of 189 and prevailed, Oman earned plaudits for their fight and composure on the big stage.
