Crvena Zvezda Set to Part Ways with Head Coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos

Belgrade, Serbia – Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade is reportedly finalizing the contract termination of head coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos, following a shaky start to the 2025–26 season, according to Mozzart Sport.

Despite the decision, Sfairopoulos is expected to remain on the sidelines for the team’s upcoming EuroLeague clash against Fenerbahce on Friday. However, the Greek coach is unlikely to continue with the club beyond that game.

Crvena Zvezda’s poor start includes two consecutive EuroLeague losses and an upset defeat to Zadar in the ABA League, which may have prompted the management’s decision.

Sfairopoulos joined the Belgrade-based side at the start of the 2023–24 season and enjoyed significant success during his two-year tenure, helping the team secure the ABA League title in 2024, the Serbian League in 2024, and back-to-back Serbian Cups in 2024 and 2025.
