Nikola Jokić Excited for Present and Future of New-Look Denver Nuggets

Denver, CO — Entering his 11th NBA season, Nikola Jokić is energized by the Denver Nuggets’ revamped roster and is committed to staying “a Nugget forever.”

After two seasons since winning their first NBA championship, the Nuggets added depth and experience this offseason. Key moves include acquiring sharpshooter Cam Johnson, bringing back Bruce Brown, signing veteran guard Tim Hardaway Jr., and trading for center Jonas Valanciunas to support Jokić. The team also welcomes back 2024 first-round pick DaRon Holmes, who returns healthy from a torn Achilles tendon.

“Bruce is back. We won with him. Need to save his career again. We have Cam and Jonas — we have a bunch of new guys. We have Holmes healthy. We’ll see. It’s a new energy, new beginning for us,” Jokić said.

Jokić bypassed a four-year, $212 million contract this summer, aiming instead for a potential four-year, $293 million extension next year. While he didn’t confirm signing plans, he emphasized his long-term commitment:

“My plan is to be a Nugget forever.”

The Nuggets also solidified their leadership structure by naming David Adelman as full-time head coach and replacing GM Calvin Booth with Ben Tenzer and Jonathan Wallace.

Bruce Brown, who returned after brief stints with Indianapolis and Toronto, expressed his excitement about rejoining the team.

“Once I got to Toronto we were on two different roads… I think right away, as soon as I got there, I wanted to come back,” Brown said.

With a deeper rotation and a mix of veteran talent, the Nuggets look poised to defend their title with renewed energy and ambition.
