Pakistan’s Sidra Amin Reprimanded for ICC Code of Conduct Breach in World Cup Clash

Pakistan opener Sidra Amin has been officially reprimanded by the ICC for breaching the Code of Conduct during her side’s Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 fixture against India in Colombo.

Incident During Pakistan’s Chase

The breach occurred in the 40th over of Pakistan’s innings, when Sidra reacted to her dismissal by striking her bat forcefully onto the pitch. Match officials deemed the act a violation of Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, or ground fixtures during an international match.

Sanction and Demerit Point

Sidra received an official reprimand along with one demerit point added to her disciplinary record. This marks her first offence in the past 24 months. Level 1 breaches carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a fine of up to 50% of the match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

The charges were laid by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Nimali Perera, supported by third umpire Kerrin Klaaste and fourth umpire Kim Cotton. Sidra admitted the offence and accepted the sanction handed down by match referee Shandré Fritz, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.

Strong Performance Overshadowed

Despite the disciplinary setback, Sidra was Pakistan’s standout performer with the bat. She scored a determined 81 off 106 balls, keeping her team’s hopes alive before India sealed an 88-run victory.

What’s Next for Pakistan

Pakistan now turn their focus to their upcoming clash against Australia on October 8 in Colombo, where they will look to bounce back and secure their first win of the tournament.
