RIGA, Latvia — Dennis Schroder delivered in crunch time to guide Germany past Turkey 88-83 in the EuroBasket 2025 final, securing the nation’s first European crown since 1993.
Germany, unbeaten throughout the tournament at 9-0, leaned on its World Cup–winning core, with Isaac Bonga scoring a team-high 20 points, while Franz Wagner added 18. Schroder closed the deal, scoring the game’s final six points and finishing with 16 points and 12 assists.
The gold-medal clash was a thriller, featuring 15 lead changes and 11 ties. The decisive moment came with 1:15 left, when Schroder’s drive put Germany ahead for good. He followed with a jumper at 18.7 seconds, then sealed it at the line after Turkey’s Alperen Sengun (28 points) missed a potential game-tying three.
Cedi Osman chipped in 23 points and Shane Larkin had 13 points, nine assists, and six rebounds for Turkey, who fell just short of their first European title.
Schroder, also the EuroBasket 2025 MVP, summed it up:
“To be a World Cup winner and a European champion, that’s big time.”
Germany now holds back-to-back major international titles, adding continental glory to their 2023 FIBA World Cup triumph.
