Titans Edge UP Yoddhas 40-35 to Stay on Top of Points Table
The Telugu Titans continued their dream run in the Pro Kabaddi League 2025, clinching their fourth consecutive victory with a hard-fought 40-35 triumph over UP Yoddhas at the SDAT Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium on Sunday. The win further strengthened their position at the top of the standings, while also highlighting the team’s growing balance and belief.
Hooda Happy With Execution Despite Minor Errors
Head coach Krishan Kumar Hooda expressed satisfaction with the team’s display in the post-match press conference.
“It was a good game. We made some small mistakes, but we can’t blame anyone for that. We played according to our plan. Bharat and Vijay did their jobs really well. Yes, the defence slipped up a few times, but that’s something we’ll correct in the next match,” Hooda said.
He also underlined the importance of the team’s fighting spirit, pointing out crucial Super Tackles that turned the tide in their favour.
Youngsters Making the Difference
One of the standout contributions came from Praful Zaware, who produced a decisive four-point cameo that proved to be the difference in the end. Hooda credited the influence of the New Young Players (NYPs) in keeping the team dynamic and competitive.
“When young players step up, the whole team benefits,” Hooda explained. “We’re playing three or four NYPs and they’re giving us good results. The senior players like Bharat and Vijay support them well, without putting extra pressure on them. Even if I get upset with the youngsters, they still respect me and respond positively. That’s the kind of culture we want.”
Leadership and Team Culture Under Vijay Malik
The coach also praised captain Vijay Malik for his calm and composed leadership, noting how it keeps the dressing room environment healthy.
“We have a captain who controls the game well. The best part is he doesn’t blame anyone, even if a mistake happens. That keeps the team atmosphere positive. When players are happy, performance naturally follows,” Hooda added.
Next Challenge: Haryana Steelers
Looking ahead, skipper Vijay Malik acknowledged the test that awaits them against defending champions Haryana Steelers on Wednesday.
“Every game is a challenge because all teams are strong. Haryana have quality defenders like Jaideep and Rahul Sethpal. But we’ll give our best and aim to secure two more points,” Malik said.
Analysis: Titans Building Depth and Momentum
With four wins on the bounce, the Telugu Titans are proving that their success is not just down to individual brilliance but also squad depth. The emergence of young talents alongside the leadership of Vijay Malik has created a balanced unit capable of sustaining momentum through the tournament. Their upcoming clash with Haryana will be a litmus test of their title credentials.
